I’m Maf Monroy, a tattoo artist with 10 years of experience in the industry. I started tattooing in late 2015 in Guatemala, and from the very beginning, I knew I wanted to focus on botanical designs. Nature has always been one of my greatest sources of inspiration; its organic shapes, textures, and intricate details have profoundly influenced my artistic style. In 2022, along with my best friend, I co-founded Forget Me Not Tattoo Atelier, a women-owned and operated studio in Guatemala City. Our space aims to offer not only high-quality tattoos but also a comfortable and welcoming experience for every client. Tattooing has allowed me to connect with people from all over the world and bring my art to different corners of the globe. I’ve had the opportunity to tattoo in cities like Amsterdam, Zwolle, Munich, Berlin, Stuttgart, and Barcelona, combining two of my greatest passions: creating and traveling. Each international experience has enriched my perspective and influenced my growth as an artist. Aftercare
Tattoo Aftercare with Protective Film
Your new tattoo will be with you for life, so it’s essential to follow these recommendations to ensure the best results and an easy healing process.
1.
The protective film is water-resistant, so you can shower with it. However, avoid submerging it in water—do not expose it to pools, jacuzzis, the ocean, bathtubs, or any situation where it will be fully submerged. It’s also important to avoid tight clothing, excessive sweating, and scratching the tattoo.

In the first few days, you may notice bubbles forming under the film, and some ink might seep out. This is completely normal; do not interfere with it.

On the fourth day after your appointment (the appointment day counts as the first day), you can remove the film. To make it easier, let warm water run over the tattoo for a few minutes, then carefully peel off the film, pulling it against your skin.

Once the film is removed, wash your tattoo gently with mild, fragrance-free, and color-free soap. Do not use washcloths or towels—just your hands. If any adhesive remains on your skin, do not scrub it; it will gradually come off in the shower.

After cleaning your tattoo, let your skin air dry, then apply a thin layer of non-greasy moisturizing cream or coconut oil. Repeat this process 2 to 3 times a day for about 10 days. Use only a light layer of cream, as too much can slow healing.

After a few days, your tattoo will start to peel—do not pick at the peeling skin, simply continue applying moisturizer.
Important:

Avoid strong alcohol and exercise for 5 days after your session.

Do not submerge your tattoo in water (baths, saunas, pools, ocean, or beach) for 2 weeks.

Once your tattoo is fully healed (usually in 3 to 4 weeks), apply sunscreen (SPF 50 or higher) every time you expose it to the sun to preserve its quality and colors.
